Key Responsibilities:

Patient Care and Assistance

Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.

Help patients with mobility, including transferring and positioning in bed or chairs.

Support patients in maintaining a clean and comfortable environment.

Vital Signs Monitoring:

Measure and record patients' vital signs, including temperature, blood pressure, pulse rate, and respiratory rate.

Report any abnormal findings to the nursing staff.

Assist with Mobility and Rehabilitation:

Help patients with physical therapy exercises and mobility routines prescribed by healthcare professionals.

Encourage and support patients in regaining independence and strength.

Nutrition and Hydration:

Assist with meal preparation and feeding, ensuring that patients receive appropriate nutrition and hydration.

Monitor and record dietary intake and report any concerns to the nursing team.

Medication Support:

Assist with medication management by reminding patients to take their prescribed medications as directed.

Document medication administration accurately.

Patient Comfort and Emotional Support:

Provide emotional support and companionship to patients, especially those who may be anxious, lonely, or in pain.

Patient Safety:

Ensure patient safety by using proper lifting techniques and following infection control protocols.

Respond to patient call lights promptly and assist with emergency situations.

Record Keeping:

Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including care plans, vital signs, and observations.

Document any changes in patients' conditions.

Communication:

Collaborate effectively with the nursing team, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care.

Communicate patient updates and concerns clearly and timely.

Infection Control:

Adhere to strict infection control guidelines and maintain a clean and hygienic environment.

Follow proper hand hygiene and personal protective equipment (PPE) protocols.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Completion of a state-approved or facility-specific training program for healthcare assistants or nursing assistants.
  • Certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) may be required in some regions.
  • CPR and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
